‘Disappearance’ is slated to vie at the Bordeaux International Independent Film Festival in France.

‘Disappearance’ is slated to vie at the Bordeaux International Independent Film Festival in France.

Directed by Ali Asgari, the film will vie at the feature films section main competition of the sixth edition of the French event.

The Iran-Qatar joint cinematic project is to compete with films from France, UK, Tunisia, Brazil, Turkey, Argentina, Chile, the Netherlands, Portugal, Germany and Bulgaria.

Iranian actors Pedram Ansari, Sadaf Asgari, Mohammad Heidari, Amirreza Ranjbaran, Sahar Sotoudeh, and Nafiseh Zare star in ‘Disappearance’.

Penned by Ali Asgari together with his writing partner Farnoush Samadi, ‘Disappearance’ narrates the story of two young lovers who go from hospital to hospital in search of help on a cold night in Tehran. Soon they will have to face the tragic consequences of their youthful inexperience.

‘Disappearance’ is the first feature-length film by Asgari, whose short films have competed in Venice and Cannes. The project was developed in the Cannes Cinefondation Residence and received a grant from the Doha Film Institute. It was produced in Iran.

The International Independent Film Festival of Bordeaux (FIFIB) defends the need for a global independent cinematic landscape.

The festival is currently underway from October 18-25, 2017 in France.
